Pre-Ballet 2
Ages 6 – 7
Pre-Ballet 2 builds on foundational work from Pre-ballet 1, continuing to orient students to work at the barre as well as in the center. Pre-ballet students develop precision in their five basic foot positions and begin working on port de bras.  Dancers continue their study of the history of ballet and ballet terminology.Mondays

The Ballet 1 series (Ballet 1 a, b, c, and d) focuses on elementary exercises with the goal of assimilating the diverse positions of the arms, legs, feet, head, and trunk of the body, and also on the development of basic habits of coordination and musicality.  As students progress through the four levels, technique and artistry are developed and frequency of class attendance goes up.Tuesdays

The Ballet 2 series (2a and 2b) solidifies the work accomplished during the Ballet 1 series. In Ballet 2, the number of repetitions is increased and exercises are done at a faster tempo. Strength of the legs and feet are developed in preparation for pointe shoes.Mondays and Wednesdays

Ballroom 1 series

Ballroom 1a is an introduction to Standard and Latin dances, including waltz, tango, cha-cha, rumba, and samba. Students practice on their own and with partners, and all students learn to both lead and follow. Dancers learn to identify rhythms and music associated with each dance. As the levels increase, students learn more complex steps and challenging rhythms.Mondays

Modern 1 series

Modern 1 series students will be introduced to traditional modern techniques such as Horton and Graham.  Classes include stretching, floor work, and moving across the floor.Tuesdays

Modern 2 series students continue to work on foundational principles from Modern 1, while building complexity and stamina. Students work to refine artistry and expression in this series.Tuesdays

Pilates
Ages 10 – 16
Pilates focuses on working the smaller muscles and not just the larger, more superficial muscles to create a uniformly developed, lean body.  Pilates is an excellent complement to dance training of all types, helps improve performance in athletics, and reduces the chance of injury while engaging in physical activity.Tuesdays

ITM’s dance classes are based on skill development and follow a carefully designed syllabus. To facilitate
students’ progression and to accurately allocate studio resources, enrollment for the school year is a full year
commitment. Even if your child does not continue attending classes, you are responsible for the full tuition
amount.
